I had a play with JCE the other day - much nicer than the default WYSIWYG.

Thanks for the heads up!

Hi Chris,

Personally I much prefer JCE but then I've pretty much always used it!  Worth having a look at - especially the insert image feature (click the button on the ribbon, not the onr below the text entry box).

It would appear (although not proven) that this was a result of the update 1.5.12.

I enable all the options under the "TinyMCE" plugin on Joomla and I now more options than I did before (I can even change the colour of the editor!).

Thanks Matt for spotting that one!

The JCE editor was mentioned as being a preferred editor during the July JUGS meeting in Felixstowe...

Has anyone noticed that some options such as the ability to create charts has gone from the TinyMCE (joomla built in editor) or is it just my sites?

Also, if you are using a different editor which one is it and is it free?

Hi Dave,

I have (althought not all fully functional)...

x4 drop down boxes which display pictures with descriptions (these link into each other depending on the input from the previous box) and the 4th then gives a defined number of text boxes based on drop down option selected. It then performs a calculation and displays the answer with the option to add to VirtueMart.

Someone has steered me in the right direction for the moment but if I get stuck is this something you might be able to help with?

Matt

I am aware at present that one or two sites run using Joomla 1.0. It is stable and I have no plans at present to change them. Maybe that could change in the future in line with the clients requirements

Can any recommend a really cheap HTML programmer to do a few hours work for a website I am working on?

Topic : VirtueMart - Related Products not working

I've spent the afternoon browsing the manual and Virtuemart forums but can't find the answer.

When I am entering a product I can search for related products and add them to the list but when I browse the product on the website itself it doesn show the related items anywhere - can someone give me a link to show me what it actually does and any idea if its a module or something I am missing or have disabled? I am running Virtuemart 1.1.3 and Joomla 1.5.11 in Native mode and dont want to change this setup if possible.

I had to manually install Virtuemart on my server which might be related to the problem and I have also tried disabling all my Modules and Plugins but that didnt work.

Our two main sites (for now) are at www.felixstoweradio.co.uk, which use YOOtheme templates and www.debenradio.co.uk which doesn't.

Hi Trevor,

Great to have you onboard, sounds like an interesting job you've got going on redesigning all those sites!

We're hoping to have one of the presentations on template overrides so this would probably be quite useful in furthering your knowledge.  A lot of people say that if you've got a good grounding in html & css then you should pick up templating quite easily - I freely admit I don't have a wonderful grounding in either but firebug and google search helps me figure things out eventually!!!

I think we've already got a venue for the Felixstowe meeting but definitely something to bear in mind for the future :)

I'm part of the team running a community radio station in Felixstowe.

Once a writer and publisher now I'm just old.

Love Joomla! as CMS came as such a relief after years of html coding and Dreamweaver.

Come to our new studio at Great Eastern Square, Felixstowe, we probably need your help! Currently redesigning all our sites (don't ask how many it frightens me).

Never got my head around templates, which tend to be a weakness allowing anyone to recognise Joomla!

A bit of shameless self promotion here!

I'm doing a 200 mile walk in July 2009, in aid of The Fishermen's Mission.  The walk goes from St Bees Head on the West Coast across to Robin Hood's Bay on the East Coast and will take 10-14 days to complete.

We're camping throughout although we'll probably stop at a YHA every 3-4 days to wash and dry clothes etc!

I would really appreciate it if you would consider sponsoring me - the website I have set up is www.c2cwalk2009.co.uk and the sponsorship page on JustGiving is www.justgiving.com/c2cwalk2009

Currently standing at £560 raised, hoping to get ~£1000 before going on the walk!

Ahh yes, I know that feeling only too well!  The other thing I have is when I've managed to figure out some complex sql query or make a really difficult equation calculate something properly and get excited, then my non-geeky colleagues insist on knowing why I'm so excited.

They have now taken to saying "You've done something geeky again haven't you!" LOL

I would suggest Docman - if you're on 1.0.x you can get it normally via JED, if you're on 1.5.x and want a native version, check out Docman 2 from Artio:

I know the feeling about J! Glaze, so was good to talk with like minded people yesterday evening.

Looking forward to the next one.

Can anyone suggest a really really simple filing sharing app that does the below...

1, Allows logged in users only to upload documents but anyone to view/download them.

2, Extemely simple upload process ie... hit browse button, browse to file on PC, select, Upload) and it then ceates a random page for the link to be  browsed to which is then displayed for the uploader to copy into a email.

3, A option to select a show until date.

4, Oh, and it needs to be free.

I've browsed extensions.joomla and didnt find anything that meets 1,2,4

I really enjoyed it. Everytime I speak to friends and work colleagues about Joomla they just glaze over so its was great to talk to people who "get joomla"!

I have 60 views - even more popular than Ruth!

Thanks Ruth for a very valuable presentation. It has taken away a lot of my fear of SEF.

And you recomendation of Firebug is already proving useful.

Another Firefox plug in I find useful is Colorzilla for checking colour codes.

Thanks again

Andrew
