Hi folks,

I have just sent out a newsletter which you should hopefully receive shortly, in which I propose a community day with talks and workshops in the morning, and a community afternoon where we do something to give back to the project, facilitated by people involved with the project.

Chris Davenport has kindly volunteered to come and help, and we might be able to bring other speakers depending on what is in the kitty at present.

Can you let us know your thoughts, and anything in particular you would like to know about?

Would the topics be different from what is covered in the Monthly User Group meetings? And what sort of giving back did you have in mind?

Hi Jon,

I'm just about to head off on annual leave so a quick response from me.

Yes we would expect the topics to be different if people want them to be. At user group meetings we are very much driven by what the members want to know about.

Chris has offered to come and do a day on whatever we want him to talk about/facilitate, so really it's up to us to say 'we want to do this'.

Regarding giving back - this can be in many forms including but not limited to bug testing, bug squashing, updating/writing documentation, writing blogs about joomla! 3.0, getting involved in working groups, replying to posts on the Joomla! forums, learning how to help with other areas of the Joomla! project in accordance with your own skillset.

To be honest, any way that we can help the project!

I think the take-up is going to depend a lot on specific content (and for me DOW). I very nearly came to the Pizza and Bugs day, except other commitments made it impossible. But would be happy to try again. But only a certain type of person would like that.

Hi Jon,

Yes, I agree - but we need to know the kind of things that would entice people to come along. I'm not willing to get someone along for the day if we only attract one or two people.
